For thought 5, Pastor Prince uses Psalm 55 verse 22, which talks about how when we cast our burdens on the Lord, He will sustain and never let the righteous be moved. This verse for me is about protection, protection in every area of my life whenever I let go and let God. When we are in Him and cast our problem to Him, who can prosper against us.
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?Romans 8
While this verse is a little harder for me to write about without proper research, it reminds me of the promise of no weapon formed against you shall prosper. Especially when you consider that the qualification for both situations is being the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. When you have the gift of righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, no weapon formed against you shall prosper, and He will not let you be moved.
The next thing it reminds of is another promise of the righteous found in Proverbs 18:
10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower;Proverbs 18
The righteous run to it and are [e]safe.
Casting our burdens to Him, and running to Him means that we don’t have to deal with whatever we need Him to take care of. And in Him, we are completely safe and He sustains us.
It also reminds me of Psalm 46:
God is our refuge and strength,Psalm 46
A[a] very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the [b]midst of the sea;
3 Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah
Just think about that. Because He is our refuge and strength, no matter what comes at us, we are completely safe and protected. I just love how He is my very present help in time of need. In Psalm 18, we also learn that He is our rock, our fortress, and our deliverer. However, for Him to be all of this to us, we need to be willing to be saved by Him, we need to be willing to let go and give it all to Him. A shield can only serve its purpose, when you use it to shield yourself.
I will love You, O Lord, my strength.Psalm 18
2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my [a]strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the [b]horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
3 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies.
Here’s to hoping that this is easier for anyone reading to understand.
