Your worry isn’t going to fix anything

Give it all to Jesus
Are you not of more value than birds?

Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? That’s verse 27, and isn’t true?

Like I don’t why we worry. It’s not like that adds anything to the situation but more pressure. Yet I think we sometimes have the notion that when we worry we are doing something…the only thing we are doing is ignoring His blessings and His provision.

In verse 33 though, the Lord Jesus encourages us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all the things we need will be added unto us. So when we don’t worry, and spend time looking at God’s righteousness, we allow open the door in our lives, to receive all He has for us.

The Lord Jesus tells us that one way to receive His blessings and provision in our lives, is to seek out His righteousness. And I talked before about how God’s righteousness is a gift, and when we are established in it, terror and fear will be far from us.

In righteousness you shall be established;
You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear;
And from terror, for it shall not come near you.

No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And their righteousness is from Me,”
Says the Lord.

Isaiah 54 : 14, 17

And we know that the kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost, all of which we cannot conjure up on our own, but it comes from Him. Whenever the righteousness, joy, or peace you have is manmade, it doesn’t last very long. He gave us His peace, and our joy comes from knowing that He’s got us, He’s the vine, and He loves us.

So the whole verse just basically points back to Him, and us seeking Him, and His gifts more. But when we spend time worrying, we aren’t really thinking about Him, and believing who He is.

How counter-productive is that?

I once wrote a blog post on God’s Promises for the Righteous in Christ, and I want to highlight some of those verses here.

And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies [a]through His Spirit who dwells in you.

Romans 8 : 10

That covers healing, no need to worry about health.

Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

24 The fear of the wicked will come upon him,
And the desire of the righteous will be granted.

Proverbs 10 : 6, 24

That’s provision covered. there is even a verse about eating to heart content too…that one was probably for me…

12For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield.

Psalm 5

We need blessings and favor in every area of our lives. And as the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, we got them.

The desire of the righteous ends only in good, but the hope of the wicked only in wrath.

Proverbs 11 : 23

Does anyone ever worry about that one?

The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing.

Proverbs 10 : 28

There is that joy we want.

The work of righteousness will be peace, And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.

Isaiah 32 : 17

Need I say more?

As children of God, we need to seek out His righteousness. And like I said yesterday, the battle is the Lord’s, stand still and let Him take over.

He will fight for you.

Until next time,

Be blessed, and remember that you are loved and highly favor.
