27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.John 14
Today we are going to talk about praise as the place where we live in His peace, that peace we know He left for us. In this age we are in, worry and anxiety are quite easy to come by when you are focusing on everything around. We know that the Lord Jesus said for us to not let our hearts be troubled, to neither let them be afraid, but more often than not we get stuck in the worry caused by everything around us.
Even for those of us who know and can recite Matthew 6:27, or 6: 31-34, it is so easy to find ourselves in the place where we are focused more on the demand around us than on the supply He has for us. And let’s not forget the promise that He will keep us in peace if we keep our focus on Him. And while keeping our focus on Him can often become hard when life is hitting us with one challenge after another from every direction, He has given us the gift of praise to stop us from concentrating on ourselves.
You will keep him in perfect peace,Isaiah 26:3
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
In Isaiah 61, the word tells us that Jesus came to give us the oil of joy instead of mourning and the garment of praise instead of the spirit of heaviness. As children of the Most-High God, who live by faith and not by sight, we need to live in this garment of praise. Instead of waiting for something good to happen, let us worship Him even in the valley. Let us put on our garment of praise and keep our focus on Jesus.
To [b]console those who mourn in Zion,Isaiah 61:3
To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning,
The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called trees of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”
And one way we can do that is by listening to worship music. With You by Elevation Worship is one song I know will always remind us where our focus needs to be. As we are His, to spend time in Him and let Him bring comfort to us. He is the comfort of our souls and because He loves us, He will always come through for us and provide for us what we need. And He won’t just bring us comfort, but as we focus on Him and His righteousness, all the other things will be added unto us. He who did not withhold His Son from us has given us so much more in that Son.
So instead of letting ourselves be consumed with worry and the stresses of this world, lets us be consumed by Him and who He is to us.
He’s got us, wear you garment of praise and let Him lead you into peace.
