I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
I didn’t have to anything to earn this righteousness, the honest truth is, in and of myself, I don’t deserve it. And none of my actions can make me lose it either.
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation…21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
2 Corinthians 5:17-21
The old has gone, and the new has come. His righteousness has come. And thank God it is a gift because there is no way I could ever qualify for it. And if we were to be honest with ourselves, this is true for everyone. No one but the Lord Jesus Christ can keep the law perfectly. Jesus Christ was the only one to ever do that, and He died on the cross for us that we might be saved by receiving His gift.
That gift He died to give us is His righteousness, which again, is a gift, and not something that we have to work for.
For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.
While I was in the old man, no matter how much good I did, I could never become righteous. I was completely powerless to reverse what Adam did. But the Lord Jesus has more than enough power to reverse it, and He restored me unto God in a spectacular way.
9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;
When I received Jesus Christ, He clothed me with His robe of righteousness. I received His abundant provision of grace and His amazing gift of righteousness to Reign in life. I became a new creation in Him, and I now qualify for all the blessings that belong to the righteous.
In Romans 3 verse 22, we find out that righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. It is given and not earned. So all those blessings in the bible meant for the righteous person, they have been given to you as a gift, you cannot earn them. What you need to do is receive them by faith.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last,[a] just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
The bible says that the righteous shall live by faith, it does not say that we live by doing works to keep His righteousness. Pastor Prince always like to remind people that we don’t become righteous by doing righteous deeds, the same way that Jesus did not become sin by doing sin. God made sin that knew no sin, to become sin for me, that I might become the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was [a]accounted to him for righteousness.” 4 Now to him who works, the wages are not counted [b]as grace but as debt.
Romans 4:3 – 4
To know more about this gift from someone who can explain this better than I ever could, here are some blog posts from Pastor Prince where he talks about this gift that has been given to us.

And here is a testimony I also found on the Joseph Prince website that talks about the experience one person had as they grew in their revelation that they were the righteousness of God in Christ. Maybe it might change your life:
I encourage you to receive His gift of righteousness, don’t try to work for it, you could never earn it. Instead of feeling all insecure and inadequate…I know we all feel that sometimes…remind yourself Whose you are, and receive that gift. Your Abba Father gave you His very best, stop ignoring His gift and receive it with open arms
Believe right that you have received His gift of righteousness and you will live right.
As Pastor Prince said, it’s not about right doing, it’s about right being.
